Job overview
This post is fixed term/secondment for 7 months to meet the needs of the service.
The West Area Team is looking for experienced, organised and enthusiastic Receptionist to work at Hwb Iechyd Eifionydd, covering Criccieth and Porthmadog sites. This Health Centre is currently being managed by the Local Health Board.
Main duties of the job
Previous experience of working within a GP Practice would be beneficial and knowledge of the EMIS clinical system is desirable, however training can be given. The demands of a GP practice can change on a daily basis and therefore this role will be challenging. The post holder will be booking appointments and dealing with patient queries therefore excellent communication skills and a confident telephone manner is required.
Proficient IT skills (including experience of Microsoft office) is also required as the post holder will also be undertaking a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the practices, including some data inputting.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a healthcare setting or a customer service environment but full training can be given to the right candidate.
The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.

Qualifications/Experience
Essential criteria
- Confidence in dealing with the public by telephone and in person
- Experience of using Microsoft office packages
- Previous experience in a busy Reception
- Education to a high standard
- Relate to public empathy/understanding
- NVQ level 1 in customer services/or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working within a Primary Care NHS setting
- Experience in Medicines Management
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- General understanding of the way the NHS functions
- Communication skills, concise accurate, grammatically correct
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience using EMIS and other NHS systems
