Job overview

This post is fixed term / secondment for 8 months due to Secondment Cover.

If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

Are you interested in nutrition and health, and looking to develop your skills in an exciting role?  A fantastic opportunity has arisen for  Dietetic Assistant to facilitate the delivery of our Public Health Dietetic Service in the Anglesey & Gwynedd areas of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB).

The Dietetic Assistant will support the Team’s Dietitians in the development, delivery and evaluation of programmes of nutrition education and skill development, working as an integral member of, and in partnership with multi-agency community teams.

You will also remain a key member of the dietetic team, joining an enthusiastic and friendly team of over 80 dietitians delivering services in acute and primary care, and public health.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support and assist the dietetics team in implementing prevention focused food and nutrition programmes across the community.  This includes delivery of practical cooking courses to a variety of community groups.

As a Dietetic Assistant, the post holder will have specific responsibilities in carrying out delegated public health activities independently with selected dietetic service users in the community, working under regular supervision of Registered Dietitians, and proactively supporting the Dietitians with appropriate clerical and administrative duties.

The post holds the potential to be involved in the development of new public health nutrition sessions, as a recent example an energy drink education session aimed at teaching young people the health implications of energy drink consumption.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
