Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - Band 6

We have an exciting opportunity for a full time band 6 Speech and Language Therapist in BCUHB West area Speech and Language Therapy team, to deliver community SLT services predominantly to Adults with Acquired Communication and Swallowing Difficulties across Gwynedd and Anglesey but with opportunities to work in other service areas in line with your clinical skills and interests. You will have skills and experience relevant to this clinical field and be able to work well as part of a team. You will work closely with other members of the team to support adults with complex communication and eating/drinking difficulties as part of a holistic, service user centred service and be confident in providing high quality, evidence based assessments and interventions and possess excellent communication and organisational skills.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will have a varied caseload of adults who have acquired communication and/or swallowing difficulties, and who require specialist Speech & Language Therapy in a range of locations across Gwynedd and Anglesey.  You will be involved in the development of clinical pathways and projects as well as delivering training, supporting and mentoring staff. You will work closely with the Speech and Language Therapy Team Leaders and other staff to continue to drive and shape our services.

You will be part of a supportive and highly skilled team of SLTs and Technical Instructors. Our friendly and forward thinking department has a strong commitment to CPD and regular clinical supervision. Access to specialist training is available via internal and external courses, as well as mentoring, clinical supervision, attendance at regional and national CEN meetings.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Recognised qualification degree / equivalent in S&LT
  • HCPC registered
  • Able to demonstrate continuing professional development e.g. up to date, relevant CPD portfolio
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of appropriate clinical network group
  • Other professional or academic qualification which relates to clinical practice
  • Accredited Practice Placement Educator Certificate

Experience

Essential criteria
  • A range of clinical experience across Adult / Paediatric SLT services
  • Delegation to non-registered staff
  • Evidence of teaching within post
  • Involvement in clinical audit
  • Experience in service development / improvement
Desirable criteria
  • Delegation to registered staff
  • Experience of delivering clinical education in area of speciality
  • Experience of delivering / supporting service change
  • Delivering Practice Supervision
