Job overview

Come and join our supportive multidisciplinary team providing high quality stroke care to people in their own homes and local community.

This role gives the opportunity for professional development, supervision of staff and involvement in service development in our relatively new team.

We are looking for a dynamic Speech and Language Therapist with a passion for stroke rehabilitation and team working to join us and help to shape the direction of our team for the future

Main duties of the job

  • To provide specialist speech and language t herapy assessment, diagnosis and treatment to adults with communication and swallowing problems within the adult SLT service and stroke
    team
  • To work independently with the support and supervision of clinical leads
  • To work in patients’ homes and community
  • To work as an integrated member of the SLT team and stroke team
  • To work with members of the multidisciplinary stroke team , including nursing, therapists and assistant staff
  • To be involved in ongoing training to the multidisciplinary team.
  • To be part of a wider network of SLTs in Sirona including peer supervision and support
  • To receive clinical and operational leadership from the Clinical Specialist SLT for stroke

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Speech and Language Therapy qualification and RCSLT and HCPC registration
  • Post graduate dysphagia qualification/experience

knowledge and experience

Essential criteria
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of a wide range of therapeutic models of working with communication disorders and dysphagia in adults with neurological and medical conditions
  • Experience of working as core member of MDT
  • Experience supervising junior staff
  • Advanced dysphagia skills: Independent working with patients with complex dysphagia in a range of acute settings/ with multiple aetiologies
  • Excellent organisational skills
Desirable criteria
  • E xperience of working with adults with communication / swallowing disorders after stroke in a community setting
