Are you interested in developing your nutrition skills as a ‘Dietetic Assistant’ in an exciting Dietetic department? Then come and join our dynamic  Dietetic Team based in Central North Wales! 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Dietetic Assistant to join our friendly team of 22 Dietitians and 4 Dietetic Assistants who deliver services in acute and primary care and public health. Dietetic Assistants assist Registered Dietitians by helping them to complete a range of fascinating nutrition related tasks and projects. This Band 3 Assistant role is based in the Conwy & Denbighshire area with the Community + Oncology Dietetic Teams – teams which are embracing innovative and better ways of working, and epitomizes the core values of our Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. 

We deliver clinical placements for students, have secretarial support and are part of a wider team of 60 dietitians working across the three Areas of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board

Main duties of the job

There is a strong, interconnected Dietetic team within the Central Team, and across North Wales, who are in regular contact via email and phone, sharing information, resources and developments wherever possible. 

All necessary development support and supervision will be provided to the right individual. 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Quality Credit Framework qualification at level 3 e.g. NVQ related to Health & Social Care, or working towards, (or equivalent); Documented evidence of participation in training activities.
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of professional body and/or special interest group. Degree in nutrition related subject. Food hygiene certificate.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of the role of the Dietitian. Relevant experience working within health, social or education settings. Basic knowledge of some conditions that could impact upon nutrition and hydration in children and young people, relevant to the role. Self-motivation for Continued Professional Development.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in working directly with people with communication challenges/other additional needs. Experience in clinical and/ or catering establishment. Experience of practical food preparation/ demonstration. Basic knowledge of the principles of Clinical Governance. Awareness of Health & Safety legislation & practices.
