Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 1,2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the living wage of £12 per hour - £23,465 per annum. This temporary top up will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2024/25 is confirmed
Job overview
To participate in the undertaking of a range of routine administrative duties to provide efficient and effective administrative and clerical support in the day-to-day work of the Mortality department which shall include:
Inputting Mortality Review data from the Medical Examiner’s Office onto DATIX.
Dissemination of routine information, sending/receiving message and processing administrative enquiries.
Undertake a range of routine administrative duties to provide efficient and effective administrative and clerical support in the day-to-day work of the Clinical Effectiveness Department.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
General responsibilities of the Mortality Admin Support Clerk role:
- To provide general administrative and clerical support to the Clinical Effectiveness team, including word processing, taking notes, dealing with email messages, electronic filing, photocopying/scanning of reports and other documents.
- Working on own initiative, within the boundaries of standard operating procedures and with access to distance support via TEAMs.
- To respond as directed by the Mortality team, to enquiries/correspondence from the Medical Examiner’s Office.
- To support the Mortality team with general typing and administrative duties including dealing with incoming and outgoing emails (both internal and external).

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- RSA Typing level 2 or equivalent qualification/experience
- Minimum of three GCSE (level C or above) including English or, equivalent educational qualifications (for example, NVQ level 2)
- Effective I.T. Skills and computer awareness including working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Knowledge and understanding of clerical procedures and systems
Desirable criteria
- ECDL
- Knowledge of the BCUHB I.T. Systems (WPAS. iFIT, DATIX, ESR, EOL,TEAMS)
- Customer care training
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of providing clerical / administrative support
- Familiar with administrative procedures and working to deadlines
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of working within the NHS or in a healthcare setting

- Effective communication and organisational skills both written and verbally
- Ability to prioritise tasks within own workload and multi-task
- Motivated, tactful and diplomatic
