Job overview

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our Dietetics Department as a Clinical Dietetic Assistant Practitioner working on a flexible basis to meet service needs.  This role would be ideally suited to student dietitians working alongside study or awaiting HCPC registration.

As a DAP you will work with the Dietitians and Dietetic Assistants to provide a service and support across specialisms dependant on service needs.  This presents a great opportunity for you to develop dietetic knowledge and skills across a breadth of clinical areas.

You will be part of the dynamic team of over thirty Dietitians, dietetic assistants and administrative staff who provide service across Anglesey and Gwynedd.  There are also good working partnerships with other dietetic services across North Wales.

We support and encourage continuing professional development. Enquiries from anyone who is interested in the role would be welcomed.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide highly specialised support, under direction of a senior dietitian, in implementing and monitoring the nutritional care of patients under their supervision and working within the British Dietetic Association (BDA) Professional Code of Conduct for Dietetic Assistants.

The post holder will have specific responsibilities in carrying out delegated activities independently with selected patients on hospital wards, in care homes and in the wider community, working under supervision of Registered Dietitians, and supporting the Dietitians with appropriate clerical and administrative duties.

They will also provide highly skilled specialised support under the direction of a senior dietitian to develop, organise, co-ordinate, deliver and evaluate nutrition & dietetic care for a range of BCU and community based staff.

The post-holder will work relatively independently working to an agreed framework with a degree of autonomy. The post-holder will be responsible and accountable for these tasks.  The post holder will work independently to actively seek and establish professional relationships with key contacts within a range of settings; this includes maintaining communication, arranging and attending meetings independently to represent the clinical dietetic team.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
