Job overview

Portering Services provides essential support to all areas of the hospital. The porter will be expected to react to the various challenges within the working environment, and the workload may be increased due to external influences including the environment, weather, patient capacity etc.  The porter will work as part of a team contributing to the smooth running of the service, providing an efficient and effective response to requests for patient movement, assistance in emergency situations, collection and delivery of samples and medicines etc, whilst ensuring that other tasks such as delivery of meal trolleys, linen, goods and mail etc are carried out in a timely manner. Whilst many of the tasks are generally routine the daily functioning of the service may be unpredictable therefore a flexible approach is essential, and the post holder will be expected to use own initiative. 

Main duties of the job

Carry out duties as part of a team and individually to support the services with in BCU, collect waste from all areas of the site, transporting patients to wards and departments, the transport of meal trolleys. Be able to communicate well and follow instruction given from management.

To include Night shifts and weekend shifts.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
