Job overview
We are looking for a dynamic, experienced, enthusiastic and innovative Infant Feeding Specialist Health Visitor (Band 7) to support Infant Feeding across the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, Central IHC Area of Conwy & Denbighshire.
The BCUHB Health Visiting Service was re-accredited in March 2024 by UNICEF UK as Baby Friendly Level 3. The service was commended for providing a high standard of care to pregnant women and new mothers.
Main duties of the job
As the infant feeding specialist, you will be responsible for promoting effective working relationships by liaising with colleagues, GP's, other professionals, and statutory and voluntary agencies, organising, and delivering training to Health Visiting Skill-mix Teams.
The successful candidate will be a resource for practitioners and support them when they are working with complex Infant Feeding cases. You will be an excellent communicator who promotes effective working relationships with all health care professionals and agencies.
You will organise and deliver UNICEF Baby Friendly training and assessment of Health Visiting staff breastfeeding skill in conjunction with the management team.
You will be responsible for leading the audit programme for the Health Visiting service to ensure Baby Friendly accreditation Level 3 is maintained. You will ensure that the Health Visiting service has in place robust working practices that will deliver on strategic level outcomes.

Qualifications and / or knowledge
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse / Midwife / Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visiting)
- Completion of UNICEF BFI Breastfeeding and Relationship Building (Health |Visitors) or equivalent
- Knowledge of current government legislation relating to early years nutrition and the obesity agenda
- Knowledge of BFI Standards and BFI "train the trainer" training
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures
Desirable criteria
- Teaching qualification or experience
- Breastfeeding counsellor qualification or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
- Skilled practitioner embracing clinical governance and clinical effectiveness
