Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will need to have:
First level Registered Nurse
A Critical Care qualification
Evidence of supporting learners in practice experience.
Evidence of management experience
Clinical and Leadership Ability
Up to date experience of working in a Critical Care setting
Good interpersonal, communication skills

The successful candidate will be required to:
To take charge of the Unit on a regular basis in the absence of a senior nurse
To assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care, providing support to other members of the multidisciplinary team.
To lead, motivate and supervise the professional work of nursing staff at Band 5 and below, exercising good leadership and control.

This post requires the individual to cover the full range of shifts (nights and days) and have flexibility to cover any day of the week.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

  • Qualified Nurse (Degree/Diploma)
  • Registered nurse on appropriate part of the register
  • Significant post registration experience / qualification / training, including experience and knowledge within relevant speciality
  • Ward management experience
  • Knowledge of current issues within acute Health Service
  • Experience in an acute hospital setting
  • Provide evidence of supporting / managing a range of learners in practice
  • Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote effective learning in practice
  • Ability to demonstrate clinical decision making and judgement
  • Commitment to the post and Care Group responsibilities
  • Commitment to continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in handling adverse events and complaints
