 Barts Health NHS Trust is one of the largest and most respected teaching hospital trusts in Britain as well as being the home of London’s Air Ambulance Service. The Trust incorporates St Bartholomew’s Hospital, The Royal London and Mile End Hospitals, Newham University Hospital and Whipps Cross University Hospital.

 This post is for a general Consultant Radiologist at Barts Health NHS Trust with an interest in Interventional Radiology. We are looking for a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our existing team of radiologists to help deliver the service and to support the active training programme. The post will be primarily based at Whipps Cross University Hospital though cross-site working can be arranged.

 

Main duties of the job

This post is for a general Consultant Radiologist at Barts Health NHS Trust with an interest in Interventional Radiology. We are looking for a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our existing team of radiologists to help deliver the service and to support the active training programme. The post will be primarily based at Whipps Cross University Hospital though cross-site working can be arranged.

 The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate general radiology skills including US, CT, plain film reporting and MRI, as well as having a specialist interest in non-vascular Interventional Radiology.  A state of the art IR room has recently been commissioned and will be up and running by the time of the appointment, in addition there are plans to build a new hospital and the successful applicant would have the opportunity to develop local IR services. 

Applicants should possess the FRCR or equivalent. There will be a non-resident diagnostic on-call commitment – currently 1:15 (with scans performed between 8:30pm – 8:30am outsourced) with remote reporting capability. There is no IR service provision after 1730 on weekdays and on weekends, urgent cases transferred to RLH.

Research and teaching activities are encouraged and supported by the active academic department and there is a highly successful training programme with rotating interventional radiology registrars.

Essential criteria
  • MB BS or equivalent
  • FRCR or equivalent
  • CCST (or within 6 months of date of interview) or on specialist register
Desirable criteria
  • MRCP/MRCS/EBIR

Knowledge
