Why this could be a great role for you….

The Maternity and Newborn Safety Investigation Programme is part of a national strategy to improve maternity across the NHS in England.

The Maternity and Newborn Safety Investigation (MNSI) programme, formerly the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch (HSIB) maternity programme, moved to be hosted by the CQC on the 1st of October 2023.

The maternity programme commenced under HSIB in April 2018, following the request from the then Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. The programme is part of the overall national maternity ambition to improve maternity safety and reduce harm by 50% by 2025. The programme was fully rolled out across England by April 2019. In 2022, a commitment was made to continue the programme for a further 5 years, there are currently 3 years of this term remaining.

What we can offer you...

What you will bring…

The post holder will work to ensure the data which MNSI holds is recorded in a consistent manner and will support the improvement of clinical documentation and accurate, timely coding of clinical data.

The role sits within a small business services team that provides operational support to the maternity programme.

The post holder will be used to a fast-paced, changing landscape and able to prioritise workloads, as well as address the needs of the business.

Reporting to the Investigation Systems Manager, you will provide support to the programme in the identification, development and ongoing maintenance of a clinical coding structure. You will work closely with the programme and form strong relationships with other relevant teams.

The post holder will lead MNSI’s clinical and thematic coding work and develop and deliver training on coding standards across the MNSI programme.

For an informal discussion or further information on the role, please contact Haidi McDonald, Investigation Systems Manager.
