This locum position comes with a very strong prospect of being converted to a substantive Consultant role in the coming months, subject to local funding agreements

Main duties of the job

Post consists of 10 programmed activities – 8.5 towards direct clinical care (DCC) and 1.5 towards supporting professional activities (SPA).

The Trust’s maternity services handle approximately 3750 deliveries per year. The neonatal service provides medical care for infants from 27 weeks’ gestation upwards and includes: 2 intensive care cots, 5 high dependency cots, 12 special care cots, and 6 transitional care cots.
The Neonatal Unit is part of the East of England Operational Delivery Network, with established pathways for extreme preterm care to Luton and Dunstable Hospital, and for cardiac and surgical care to centres in London. The Neonatal Unit manages approximately 800 admissions and 5500 care days annually across all levels of care. The Neonatal unit has recently been refurbished with a new ventilation system, a milk kitchen and private spaces for families. Maternity and Neonatal services use BadgerNet EPR and uses state of the art electronic medication management systems.

The Children’s Services at the Trust also include a Paediatric Assessment Unit, a Children’s Emergency Department, and a Children’s Ward, led by a team of 14 Acute Consultant Paediatricians.
Applicants must be on the Specialist Register with a CCT in Paediatrics and/or Neonatal Medicine or be within 6 months of achieving this at the time of the interview. Please attach a copy of your up-to-date CV with your application.
