Job overview

This Clinical Fellow position presents an exceptional opportunity to join the Male Genital Oncology and Reconstruction (MGOR) service at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, a leading institution in the treatment of penile cancer in Europe. The fellow will actively contribute to the management of penile cancer and complex genital reconstruction. The role demands a strong dedication to clinical excellence and research, with a focus on translating laboratory findings into innovative treatments to enhance patient outcomes. You will work alongside a world-renowned multidisciplinary team of experts in penile cancer, reconstructive surgery, and urological oncology. The successful candidate will be integral to ongoing research projects, clinical trials, and the continued growth of the MGOR service. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in the surgical educational activities at the Christie. The job is a full-time post (10 programmed activities per week).

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Fellow will primarily focus on the care of patients with penile cancer and the performance of genital reconstruction. This role involves managing all stages of penile cancer treatment, from pre-malignant conditions through to radical surgery and oncoplastic reconstruction, including penile prosthesis implantation. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the fellow will be heavily involved in both translational and clinical research, working to translate laboratory innovations into real-world treatments that improve patient outcomes. The fellow will gain hands-on experience with advanced therapies such as CO2 laser treatment, penile-preserving surgeries, dynamic sentinel node biopsies, and complex lymph node dissections. Additional duties include leading research projects, contributing to multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings, and participating in high-impact clinical trials. Teaching and mentoring junior medical staff, as well as engaging in clinical audits and governance, will also be key aspects of the role.

Working for our organisation
