JOB PURPOSE
In conjunction with the Specialty Manager, take a leading role in providing day to day support to the SBU’s Admin & Clerical staff and lead on the Doctors in Training rota planning.
Main duties of the job
JOB SUMMARY
To provide full support to the Specialty Manager in the day to day operational management and coordination of the Access and Medicine, to work collaboratively within the specialty business unit management team. Coordination of project work to support service transformation and development: Day-to-day management of all administrative and clerical services, including the planning of the Doctors in Training rota to make sure it remains compliant and cost effective as well as ensuring full service cover is in place. Working with the Specialty Manager to ensure that the strategic business unit service meets and achieves national performance indicators i.e. cancer waiting times, 18 weeks, all quality, activity and financial targets and indicators. The post holder will also provide line management to the Medical Secretaries and administration teams.

Assistant Specialty Manager for Acute Medicine
Full time, 37.5 hours per week

- Degree or equivalent professional qualification
- Evidence of personal development
Desirable criteria
- Post graduate qualification
- Healthcare management education
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Willingness to operationally manage teams
- Willingness and ability to line manage individuals
- Evidence of project coordination to facilitate service change
- Experience of analysing data to ensure consistent and compliant outcomes.
- Evidence of understanding of large & complex clinical environments
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience in managing in a clinical setting
- Process mapping skills
- Background within the NHS
- Knowledge of the service requirements & current issues
