Main duties of the job

The DEXA team at UHS are delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity for a customer focused, driven and enthusiastic individual, as part of our outstanding service.

This fixed term role (1 year), will allow the successful candidate to support this expanding service allowing us to continue to offer timely scans to our local and wider community and participate in exciting patient research studies. The candidate will be required to be patient facing, to provide a high-quality dual energy X-ray Absorptiometry scanning service (DXA), providing bone densitometry measurement service to in/outpatients, private patients and research volunteers.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As per the job pack, you can see that responsibilities include a range of technical, scientific, advisory, clinical and research skills. The main role will include providing a bone densitometry measurement service to patients referred to the DEXA service. Direct patient care is a large part of the role, supporting patients through their attendance and providing advice and guidance. DEXA also support a number of patient research studies alongside their diagnostic referrals. 

We are looking for a flexible, enthusiastic, passionate individual to join our ever growing service. They will need to hold the relevant qualifications and/or experience for the role- as specified in the job pack. The individual will need to demonstrate working well both individually and as part of a team. 

The service works Monday- Friday, largely core hours. Flexibility to shift pattern is desirable but can be discussed if successful. The department hold scans at UHS but movement between buildings may be required.

  • Relevant degree or equivalent level of knowledge or qualification
  • Scientific background
  • Experience in a clinical environment
  • Ability to follow protocols
