We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and motivated research nurse (adult or paediatric) with significant research experience, who takes pride and ownership in delivering high quality patient centred care, to lead the delivery of our education and clinical skills programmes for the staff within Southampton Research.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
If you are passionate about education and preparing research staff to give patients the opportunity to take part in high quality ethical clinical research, with excellent research knowledge, clinical skills and experience, this could be a very interesting opportunity for you.
Working in the NIHR Clinical Research Facility and alongside the other teams within Southampton Research you will provide expert supervision, teaching and assessment of competence to support research nurses, AHPs and Clinical Trial Assistants working on complex multi-centre studies within a range of specialities in addition to early phase and experimental medicine.
Job Summary:
This job is there to ensure the quality of practice learning environments and to propose interventions for improvement for all types of learners including our apprentices and student learners from HEIs, through leadership and strategic development. The post holder will ultimately ensure high quality education delivery with particular focus on Clinical Research Facility staff.
The role also entails developing, delivering and evaluating the education delivery across the area of specialism and more broadly considering trust and CRF / R&D objectives.
This role is supported by the Clinical Educator.
Essential criteria:
Registered nurse on relevant part of the register (NMC).
Highly developed specialist professional knowledge acquired through Post Graduate degree level education or equivalent experience.
Mentoring/coaching/education qualification to postgraduate diploma level or equivalent evidence of supporting learners in practice.
Leadership qualification or significant equivalent experience.
Evidence of ongoing professional development.
Significant experience of Clinical Research delivery.
Experience of educating others in a formal or informal setting.
Broad awareness of trust initiatives/pressures.
Knowledge of the Research Governance Framework (RGF), International Conference on Harmonisation/Good Clinical Practice.
Desirable criteria:
Further education at a master's degree level in the relevant practice area.
Able to manage and prioritise frequent, unpredictable demands and interruptions.
There are approx. 300 Research Nurses, AHPs, Midwives, Clinical Research Practitioners and Clinical Trials Assistants, as well as a team of non-clinical support staff, led by a Senior Research Nursing Team, working together across the Trust in all specialities. Qualifications / training required
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse or AHP on relevant part of the professional register (NMC HCPC)
- Evidence of on-going professional development.
- Experience of teaching and mentorship
- Educated to Post Graduate Degree level or equivalent experience
- Recognised qualification in teaching and mentorship
- Extensive experience of research nursing
Desirable criteria
- Recognised qualification in relevant speciality
Previous or relevant experience necessary

- Recent experience of working with patients at a senior level.
- Clinical Research experience.
- Relevant speciality experience.
- Knowledge of current issues within acute health care
