Maternity Care Assistant

Department: Maternity

Band: 2, £23,615 Per annum, pro rata if part time

Hours: Part-time, 15 hours per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working 

The community midwifery team are looking forward to welcoming an organised and proactive individual to join them. The successful applicant will support the team with administrative duties such as appointment booking using an electronic patient records system, answering the telephone, stock ordering and general housekeeping. 

You will work closely with midwives to ensure the smooth running of the community midwifery service, with opportunities to support families with infant feeding and care.

The post holder will work alongside midwives and other members of the maternity care team who provide direct care to service users, babies and their families throughout their maternity journey.

 

 

The post holder will use skills to undertake defined tasks for which they have been appropriately trained, as directed by midwifery staff to provide routine care for service users and their babies.

 Measure urine output and accurately maintain a fluid balance chart 
 Provide assistance to service users with urinary catheters to maintain hygiene

  • Care Certificate or willingness to work towards
  • Evidence of Diploma in Healthcare or study at Level 2 in Health & Social Care
  • Computer skills

  • Understanding of the need for safeguarding adults and children
  • Understanding of the job role within maternity services.
