Main duties of the job
The recruitment team at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) are delighted to be able to offer a fantastic opportunity for a customer focussed, friendly and enthusiastic individual, as part of our expanding service. The Southampton Haemophilia Centre provides specialist care to over 650 adults and children with inherited and acquired bleeding and platelet disorders.
The Haemophilia Clinical Nurse Specialist will work within the heart of the busy Haemophilia Centre. They will be part of the multidisciplinary team and will work closely alongside the Senior Clinical Nurse Specialists, Consultant team and Administrative Team in delivering an excellent standard of care to all patients. Clinical skills that are desirable for the role, but not essential, include phlebotomy and performing venesections.
The Haemophilia Clinical Nurse Specialist will provide care in all aspects of the patient journey. This will primarily be treating the patient in the out-patient setting, but can include treating patients during a hospital stay or within the community. The post holder will be involved in planning, implementing and evaluating care. They will be central in administering specialist treatments, organising after care, and acting as a point of contact for information requirements for the patient, their carer's and other healthcare professionals.

As part of this role you will be supported to attend the level 6 /7 Contemporary Care of People with Bleeding Disorders to enhance essential skills, gain specialist qualifications and support development in this highly specialised role. This post is also supported by the Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity who provides specialist nurses with support and education to care for seriously ill children and families living with lifelong conditions.
The Haemophilia Nurse Specialist will need to work within tight timeframes and will require good prioritisation and time management skills. It is essential that the post holder has experience within the NHS setting. Experience or knowledge of Haemophilia Care and Benign Haematology is highly desirable.

RGN.1st Level or relevant children's qualification or dual trained
Desire to work across the paediatric and adult population
Current NMC Registration
1st Degree In nursing or health related subject, willing to undertake/ working towards
Relevant accredited post registration qualification at level 3
Willingness to work towards Masters level academic study /nurse prescribing
Desirable
Qualification in Teaching and Assessing

- Degree qualification or equivalent 120 credits at L6
- Post registration qualification within area of speciality.
- Completion of all Band 5 (preceptorship) competencies
- Provide evidence of supporting/ managing a range of learners in practice
- Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote effective learning in practice
- Extensive post registration experience within specialist area. Multidisciplinary team working.
