Job overview

We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologist/Radiographer to join our multidisciplinary team at an exciting time.

The department is spread across two sites: Charing Cross Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital. The successful candidate will participate in the site rotation currently in operation.

The trust wide PET/CT service is based at Charing Cross Hospital. We have a busy PET/CT service, which includes 18F-FDG, 68Ga-Dotatate, 68Ga-PSMA, 18F-Choline, 18F-Amyloid studies and numerous research studies using a variety of radioisotopes.

Two SPECT/CT cameras are available at Hammersmith. A wide range of examinations and therapies are undertaken including Myocardial Perfusion Imaging, DAT scan imaging, GFRs and 177Lutetium, SIRTeX and Therasphere therapies.

The post holders will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and perform clinical Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT and laboratorial procedures whilst providing a high level of patient care.

Main duties of the job

  • To work as part of a professional Nuclear Medicine team providing a high quality diagnostic service.
  • To provide an efficient nuclear medicine service, maintaining a high standard of patient care.
  • To maintain a sensitive and courteous approach to patients.
  • Assist Modality Leads
  • To develop and improve professional expertise via continuous professional development (CPD).
  • To provide staff training and supervision of junior staff and students.

Education/ qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc in a Science subject or BSc in Radiography or equivalent
  • Radiographer – State registration with HPC
  • Post graduate diploma in Nuclear Medicine or equivalent or working towards a post graduate qualification in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Evidence of CPD
Desirable criteria
  • Technologists - IPEM registered or in the process of registering

Experience

Essential criteria
  • 2 years full time professional experience in a Nuclear Medicine Dept. as Band 6 or equivalent.
  • Up to date knowledge of general nuclear medicine imaging techniques, including data acquisition, image processing and SPECT/CT.
Desirable criteria
  • NHS experience
  • Previous experience at Band 7 level
  • Experience of training staff and students

Skills/knowledge/ abilities

Essential criteria
  • Good knowledge of nuclear medicine instruments and procedures.
  • I.V. administration and cannulation skill
  • Exceptional patient care and handling skills
  • Good decision making and problem solving skills
Desirable criteria
  • Good knowledge of nuclear medicine instruments and procedures.
