West London NHS Trust  provides a full range of mental health, community  and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.

We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

Community and Recovery Mental Health Services: Integrated community mental health services lead 1.0 wte

 

An exciting secondment opportunity is available for enthusiastic and motivated Principal Clinical or Counselling psychologist who is keen to further develop their clinical and leadership skills in our integrated mental health services (our Multi-Integrated Network Teams or MINT).   If you are passionate about improving the development and delivery of integrated care alongside developing therapeutic ways of working across mental health teams, this is an exciting time to come and work in community services in West London.

 

West London NHS Services are in the process of transforming the provision of community services to offer integrated placed-based care centred around the Primary Care Networks across the three boroughs of Hounslow, Ealing and Hammersmith and Fulham.  This transformation is aimed at improving, focussing and standardising the offer to all those using our services and is concentrating on improving access to psychological treatments.

 

An understanding of West London and a passion for working within the area to develop our capacity to consider and meet the needs of our diverse population and deliver culturally sensitive care is a central part of the role.

The successful candidate will be part of a supportive and welcoming psychology leadership team as well as providing clinical and operational leadership to multi-disciplinary staff in the pathway. 

·       The successful post holder will lead our well-established psychology team in Hammersmith and Fulham.

·       The post holder will have management experience and extensive leadership skills, including the ability to take a whole systems approach to managing and supporting culture change

·       The team’s key focus is in delivering evidence based packages of care, informed by NICE guidelines alongside excellent multi-disciplinary working.

·       You will be part of a team excited by, and striving for, optimal recovery outcomes for each individual who uses our services.

·       The teams are keen to develop formulation-based understanding, trauma-informed ways of working alongside culturally sensitive care and support.

·       We are excited by a range of new roles which strive to work within our communities; building and developing holistic ways of working.

·       The successful candidate will have experience of delivering specialist evidence-based therapy, of providing supervision, and of service development relating to psychological therapies.

Qualifications

  • Good honours degree (2:1 minimum) in Psychology. Eligibility for graduate membership of BPS
  • Post-graduate doctorate in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or those in lateral transfer) as accredited by the BPS.
  • Professional Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council
  • Training in clinical supervision for Doctoral, and equivalent, trainees

  • Evidence of post-doctoral training in systemic therapy/ DBT/ CAT/ Schema Therapy/CBT/CBTp

Experience

  • Significant experience working as a qualified (specialist) psychologist, including post qualification experience as a qualified psychologist within a community setting with those who present with complex difficulties
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge, both theoretical and practical, of psychology applied to clinical practice, particularly in respect of adults with severe and enduring mental health needs (including complex needs, psychosis and a trauma history)

  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
  • Experience of having facilitated/co-facilitated psychological therapy groups
  • Experience of working clinically with both male and female service users
  • Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
  • Experience of having facilitated/co-facilitated psychological therapy with families.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Highly developed specialist knowledge, both theoretical and practical, of psychology applied to clinical practice, particularly in respect of adults with severe and enduring difficulties, psychosis, trauma and complex needs
  • Advanced specialist knowledge, both theoretical and practical, of psychology applied to clinical practice
  • Able to provide and receive highly complex, highly sensitive or highly contentious information, where there are significant barriers to acceptance which need to be overcome using the highest level of interpersonal and communication skills such as would be required when communicating in a hostile, antagonistic or highly emotive atmosphere
  • Able to make judgements involving highly complex facts or situations, which require the evaluation of a range of options (e.g. the assessment of specialist clinical conditions and the determination of treatment options), where expert opinions may differ
  • Able to plan, prioritise and organise own workload, assessments, formulating and treatment, involving other staff, and other aspects of the work such as research activity
  • Keyboard skills
  • Psychomotor skills necessary to administer complex psychological tests and video equipment
  • Able to use database, word processing and test administration/scoring software
  • Post-graduate level knowledge of research design and methodology
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
