•    Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, forensic services including low and medium secure care.
•    Specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
•    Community physical health and well-being services for children and adults.

The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,000 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time position for highly motivated, suitably qualified, experienced, confident and forward thinking individuals for a Band 7/ Ward manager post to support the inpatient Adult acute and PICU wards at the Harbour. You must be able to provide clinical leadership and motivation to develop the existing staff whilst maintaining high professional standards, demonstrating commitment to staff development and patient care. Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge of the wide ranging specialties which the wards provide is essential.  You will promote and maintain extremely high standards of care whilst supporting and assisting the Modern Matron to implement local and national strategies and initiatives.

You will need to possess excellent interpersonal skills, have strong leadership and staff development skills as well as a proven track record in change management. A strong commitment to your ongoing professional education and development is essential.

The successful post holder will be expected to support across the Harbour footprint and be able to work shifts covering 24 hours, seven days a week, however the main working hours will be Monday to Friday during office hours.

  • Knowledge and practice of Mental Health Act 1983
  • Knowledge and practice of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
  • Can provide evidence of recent professional/personal development

Experience

  • Post graduate experience at Clinical Leader level
  • Supervision and management of staff
  • Experience of assessing, planning, implementing and reviewing care needs
  • Experienced in acting as a mentor/assessor of student staff
