Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria

First or second-class honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
Working towards becoming a registered Clinical Scientist
Literacy, numeracy and accuracy of a high order

Desirable criteria

Masters level qualification

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria

Specialist knowledge and skills relevant to the area of work to post graduate level
Good knowledge of IT software packages (e.g. R, Python, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and knowledge of applying them
Knowledge of legislation, standards and safety principles relating to area of work
Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology relevant to area of work
Basic knowledge of clinical hazards and infection control

Desirable criteria

Experience in working in the hospital environment
Experience in preparation and publishing of research in peer-reviewed journals
General knowledge of the research and development process, including the production of grant funding proposals and ethics applications
Advanced knowledge of scientific method and collection and analysis of data using standard scientific tools and software
Basic knowledge of statistics analysis for medical applications to enable analyses to be written up for scientific publication
Substantial experience and competency in using appropriate programming languages to manipulate data sets to extract information, develop new computer algorithms and new diagnostic tests
Knowledge about medical device development and commercialisation
