West London NHS Trust  provides a full range of mental health, community  and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.

We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Care of Elderly Specialist Occupational Therapist to clinically lead our in-patient (non-acute) units in West London.  If you are a Senior Occupational Therapist, or a Band 5 looking for development opportunity, who has an interest in Older People, wants a new challenge, and is looking to lead and develop a team, this post must be ideal for you. 

The West London NHS Trust, Older People Service Line provides excellent care to those who are experiencing cognitive impairment and those over 70s who have other mental health needs.  The service line covers London Boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow. The community services are mainly based at St. Vincent’s memory clinic in Hammersmith, Elm Lodge memory clinic in Greenford, Sycamore Lodge memory clinic in Acton and Hounslow memory clinic.  The in-patient units; Jubilee ward and The Limes are both located in Ealing and Meridian ward at Hammersmith.

The post holder will support the delivery of high quality care to patients across the three in-patient units.  As senior Occupational Therapist, they will provide comprehensive and holistic assessments, interventions, and care planning for those patients having complex physical and mental health needs. They will be responsible for managing the caseload of a single ward – 18 bedded unit.

As a Senior Occupational Therapist, they will be responsible for supervision, training and development of junior team members in these units, as well as contributing to departmental and Trust improvements. They will ensure the occupational therapy services in the in-patients are evidence based, and delivered with compassion and in person-centered manner.

The Post holder will support the Specialist Occupational Therapist in service development and audit to evidence efficiency and efficacy.  They will work closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team including other AHP colleagues to ensure a high quality of care is maintained at all times. 

They will be an integral part of the inpatients therapy team and also a part of the wider occupational therapy team across the service line.

Learning and personal development is encouraged and we have a well-established appraisal system and funding for relevant external and internal courses.
