Job overview

Reporting directly to the Deputy Head of DPO / Deputy Data Protection Officer in the DPO Shared Services Team, the Assistant Data Protection Officer (Admin) is responsible for providing an admin function to all the admin related duties of the department, which covers a data protection service to both Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHNT) and North-West London Integrated Care Board (NWL ICB). 

The post requires a highly motivated individual with excellent written and verbal communications skills, who is capable of working both alone and as part of a growing dedicated team. 

Whilst the role is primarily focused on delivering an admin function to the department, it equally allows opportunity for the post-holder to be directly involved in the operational activities of the sub-teams of the department, hence delivering data protection advice as and when needed, where feasible.

Main duties of the job

The Assistant Data Protection Officer (Admin) will support the DPO Shared Services Team in promoting adherence to Data Protection and Security best practice within the organisations. 

The post holder will help the team in delivering all admin duties related to the department. 

In doing so, they shall provide admin duties, as well as supporting the different sub-teams in the delivery of the respective areas where feasible in terms of timing:

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Graduate qualification involving original research / action research
  • • Graduate or equivalent experience;
  • • Demonstrable evidence of CPD (Continuing Professional Development);
Desirable criteria
  • • Degree in any related discipline law;
  • • Excellent IT skills
  • • Understanding of Policy/Procedure/Law; PRINCE II Foundation / Practitioner;

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Foundation / basic level understanding of GDPR and the legal framework for data protection more widely;
  • • Experience of partnership working across organisations and disciplines;
  • • Experience in minute taking;
  • • Experience in report writing;
  • • Confidentiality and the legal basis for maintenance of confidentiality
Desirable criteria
  • • Good understanding of NHS operational and strategic issues;
  • • Delivery of an admin function to a large department of data protection / information governance.
