Job Summary

 

Manage own workload & demonstrate efficient organisation and oversee the smooth effective operation of the office.   To work autonomously within a team, providing full organisational support to the consultant’s practice and their team.  To ensure procedures and working practices are in place so that the speciality and Trust can deliver a service that meets the standards and targets that have been set.     To provide a considerate, patient focussed service in all dealings with patients and with staff around the hospital and throughout the whole system.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Neurology Admin Assistant

Band 3

 

Hours: 15 per week Thursday & Friday – Part Time Hours

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a first class admin assistant who has excellent interpersonal skills and a calm and methodical approach to provide essential administration duties to Consultants & their team within the fast-paced Neurology department.

 

Principle duties include assisting with letters, taking and transcribing minutes, diary management, clinic management, pulling notes, filing, distribution of post, using hospital CERNER system /other databases for validation and audits and liaison with other healthcare professionals. You will be expected to have an excellent telephone manner, be courteous and efficient.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good general standard of education to GCSE level or equivalent including English

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in busy environment
  • Experience of dealing with the general public
  • Awareness and understanding of NHS issues,
  • Experience in using patient administration systems
  • Experience of working in a large complex organisation and a multidisciplinary environment
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of mentoring, training or supervising others
  • Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology
  • Detailed knowledge of patient pathways and advanced medical terminology in own area of work (*)
