An exciting opportunity to join our Band 6 Occupational Therapy bank staff at Homerton Healthcare working in the vibrant and diverse borough of City and Hackney. The role is for acute therapy inpatients and will cover a wide range of conditions across the patient pathway. The post-holder will provide specialist Occupational Therapy for a wide range of patients in an acute NHS hospital, and you will be part of well-coordinated, specialist multi-professional teams working closely with nursing and therapy colleagues in multi-disciplinary teams participating in goal setting, rehabilitation, and discharge planning. The post holder must be an experience band 5 or 6, and have experience working in an acute NHS hospital.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide specialist occupational therapy for a wide range of patients requiring assessment and complex discharge planning on the acute inpatient wards.  
  • Undertake the specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and implementation of therapy interventions of clients with complex physical disabilities and/or cognitive deficits as an autonomous practitioner. This includes using analytical, clinical reasoning skills and appropriate outcome measures.
  • Provide specialist occupational therapy for a wide range of patients requiring rehabilitation.

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Degree / diploma in OT recognised by COT.
  • • HCPC registration.
  • • Working as a band 6 or experience band 5 within the NHS

Skills / Abilities

Essential criteria
  • • Ability to assess and implement appropriate range of treatments for clients with complex physical disabilities.
  • • Able to manage a clinical caseload and to prioritise as required
  • • Senior level of clinical skills
  • • Sound IT skills, e.g. Word processing and e-mail

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Sufficient graduate experience in general physical field of OT.
  • • Experience of working in a community setting.
  • • Experience of contributing to service development projects.
