Applications are welcomed for a 12 month HPB & OG Clinical Fellow, post commencing January 2025 in Clinical Oncology, based at The Christie NHS FT, Manchester, UK Europe’s largest single site cancer hospital.
This post is for 40 hours per week as a Clinical Fellow within the HPB and OG disease group under the specialty of Clinical Oncology for a fixed term period of 12 months. The post holder will be employed by The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and will be based at The Christie. The successful applicant would be expected to work alongside consultants and trainees in out-patient clinics, supervising Precision Radiotherapy planning/delivery and performing on-treatment reviews and follow-up assessments. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be involved in all aspects of the management of patients with HBP and OG. These include (but are not limited to) the screening of referrals, active participation in MDT, assessment of patients, consent, review of patients on pre-treatment, treatment, planning of SABR, review and approval of SABR plans, precision radiotherapy development and post treatment and ePROMS. All of this will be done under the clinical supervision of the designated HPB & OG team consultant.
You will be expected to teach junior medical staff, medical students and nurses on occasion.
You will be expected to take part in audit and research.
There is no on call responsibility with this post.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

ORGANISATIONAL ARRANGEMENTS
This post is for 40 hours per week as a Clinical Fellow is work within the clinical oncology Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) and) Oesophago-Gastric (OG) disease group, with a strong interest in SABR (Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy) for a fixed term period of 12 months. The post holder will be employed by The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and will be predominantly based at The Christie at Withington site, with potential rotation to the radiotherapy satellite centres.
Role Purpose

The appointee will be a Fellow in the department of Clinical Oncology within the HPB & OG disease group

The employing authority is The Christie NHS Foundation Trust

The appointee will be managerially accountable to the Clinical Director of the Directorate of Clinical Oncology

The Appointee will be professionally responsible to the consultants in whose clinics they will be supporting.

The post-holder will be assigned a clinical supervisor (Consultant Clinical Oncologist). They will work alongside their supervisor in at least one clinic.

Will develop expertise in the development, management and treatment of HPB and oligometastatic tumour sites with SABR

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The medical establishment provides currently consists of 59 Consultants who run the clinical service and research practice. There is also a team of 23 SpRs plus Academic Clinical Fellows.
