Job overview

A great opportunity has arisen for a Portering & Waste Supervisor within the Capital Estates and & Facilities Broadmoor Hospital, Crowthorne. 

The position of Portering & Waste Supervisor will report directly to the Logistics and Environmental Manager.  This is a critical role in ensuring safe and effective delivery of all logistical processes.

Working alongside other Supervisor within the CEF supporting patients and staff.

 The post holder will manage the day to day operational delivery of Portering and Waste management within the hospital and across the Broadmoor estate.

 We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and experienced Supervisor to provide excellent leadership for the department. 

Main duties of the job

To have delegated responsibility for the management, co-ordination and monitoring of building maintenance activities using both directly employed labour and contractual services to ensure the estate is maintained in such a condition that it fulfils its functions effectively, safely, economically and efficiently, whilst ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and trust policies.

Essential criteria
  • Good level of education (GCSE Mathematics and English)
  • Appropriate Waste Management training that covers duty of care and waste legislation
  • BTEC / City & Guilds in Estate management or equivalent level of experience
Desirable criteria
  • Qualifications in waste management NEBOSH/IOSH

Experience

Essential criteria
  • At least 2 years’ experience gained in an NHS environment
  • Experience of managing staff and an ability to educate and motivate teams of staff
  • At least 2 years’ experience gained in portering and waste
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of supervising staff within an NHS or public sector body
