In this key role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our Pharmacy Homecare Service, ensuring seamless patient care. You will manage and prioritise your workload, liaise with clinical teams, handle patient queries, and support the delivery of homecare prescriptions. You will also assist with financial reporting, service audits, and maintain accurate patient records.
Key responsibilities include:
• Coordinating and supervising the homecare staff and scheduling clinic sessions
• Managing invoices, improving billing accuracy, and resolving inquiries
• Producing performance data and monthly KPI reports
• Collaborating with internal teams such as Clinical Pharmacy Services, Cancer & Aseptic Services, and external suppliers and homecare providers

Main duties of the job

To provide a comprehensive and efficient daily procurement service to the trust developing and updating services, following all legal and departmental practices including Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs), MHRA Rules and Guidance for Pharmaceutical Distributors, COSHH, Lifting and Handling Regulations and all Trust Policies and Procedures.
To assist the Chief Technician and Pharmacy Business Manager with development of cost improvements to the department and trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Operational
Receive correspondence and queries for the Homecare team and prioritise for action and respond to those of a routine nature
To keep and maintain accurate records relating to patients on the homecare scheme.
Management
Provides day to day supervision and coordination of homecare staff
Trains
Reporting
To produce performance data in graphical form, related to the Homecare team, as required for adherence to local and regional KPIs and to support future development of performance measures as required
Assist in producing reports as necessary and participating in data collection for local homecare audits
Quality
To co-operate with staff in other disciplines to help ensure the safe, effective and economic use of drugs
To maintain full patient confidentiality when dealing with prescriptions

Qualifications and knowledge
Essential criteria
- A minimum of 4 GCSE passes or equivalent incl. English Language and Maths
- Basic Computer Skills or RSA level 1 or equivalent.
- Knowledge of importance of confidentiality.
- NVQ level 4/BTEC or equivalent knowledge and experience in pharmacy practice
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of clinical or medical terms and issues.
- Prescription Validation and Clinical Screening Programme or working toward qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant experience of working in a large organisation.
- Excellent experience of using a wide range of IT packages including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent experience of taking minutes of meetings.
- Excellent experience of working within a customer services environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
Desirable criteria
- NHS experience.
- Experience of working with or managing databases.
- Experience of working in a health care environment
