West London NHS Trust  provides a full range of mental health, community  and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.

We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

Ealing Talking Therapies is seeking to recruit additional Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWP) who have undertaken the specialist PWP Talking Therapies training and are looking to progress their career as part of our supportive and highly regarded team. We have a very well-established step 2 team, consisting of trainee and qualified PWPs. We provide a wide range of CBT-based interventions, such as groups, one to one sessions (face to face and telephone), and online therapy (cCBT), in addition to the telephone and face to face assessments. We will offer the successful candidate with the opportunity to co-facilitate a step 3 group, attend further training, and to gain experience in carrying out audits relevant to the service. 

                  We would like to hear from you if you are:

·       A qualified PWP who has successfully completed a Talking Therapies PWP training course (or a trainee PWP due to complete the training within the next 3 months)

·       Able to deliver high quality person-centred interventions that reflect local and national priorities and targets

·       An inspirational and collaborative team player with excellent communication skills committed to improving access to psychological therapies across the Ealing borough.

·       Please note that this post involves being able to work at least one evening session per week (12pm - 8pm).

PWPs have clinical variety and deliver sessions over the telephone, face-to-face, online, and in groups. There is a need to be able to work flexibly, with sessions in different locations across Ealing and Southall.

In order to provide a service which is accessible to our clients, all staff are required to provide an evening session. We will consider part-time hours for the right candidates. We are also keen to hear from applicants who wish to attend further training in LTC.

Qualifications

  • Talking Therapies Low Intensity worker/Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner qualification
  • Registered as a PWP with the British Psychological Society (BPS) or the British Association of Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)

  • A second class honours degree or higher in Psychology
  • Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
  • Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.

Experience

  • Experience with people with mental health problems and/or other disabilities
  • Experience of paid post graduate work with people with mental health problems with supervision from an applied Psychologist
  • Ability to demonstrate a range of post-qualification experiences in offering and delivering the range of evidence based Talking Therapies low Intensity interventions such as CCBT, guided self-help and group psycho-education
  • Ability to accept and use supervision appropriately and effectively.

  • Experience of paid work as Graduate Mental Health worker, with supervision from an applied Psychologist.
  • Experience of paid direct care work. Experience of working with clients who present with risk to themselves
  • Experience of working with individuals whose children are subject to Child Protection Legislation
  • Experience of audit and research

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of different models of mental health/mental illness
  • Knowledge of NHS Policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Knowledge of working sensitively with diversity (including working with black minority ethnic groups)
  • Evidence based practice/clinical governance
  • Models of assessment (including clinical risk assessment) record keeping and evidence based brief psychological intervention
  • Knowledge of outcome measures and their use in clinical and audit purposes
  • High level of communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive.
  • An ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a mental health context
  • Experience using computers for databases or data analysis, especially Excel and SPSS for Windows.
  • High standard of report writing
  • Ability to work effectively with Interpreters
  • An ability to work well within a team and foster good working relationships with staff from all disciplines.
  • An ability to develop positive therapeutic relationships with people with mental health difficulties
  • Ability to work independently, reliably and consistently with a busy workload agreed and managed at regular intervals.
  • Ability to be reflective, whilst working with service users, in own personal and professional development and in context of supervision
