Specialty Doctor

Specialty Doctor

West London NHS Trust  provides a full range of mental health, community  and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.

We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

Job overview

Based in a popular area of West London, we are looking for a dynamic and skilled colleague to provide Specialty Doctor input to the Hounslow Cognitive Impairment and Dementia Service (CIDS) and Specialist Older Adult Mental Health Service (SOAMHS), both within the Older People’s Mental Health Service (OPMHS).

These community teams continually strive to enhance the experience of patients, and those supporting them, and is closely linked to Imperial College London both in terms of teaching and research.  They are co-located in Hounslow borough at Lakeside Mental Health Unit, adjacent to West Middlesex University Hospital

Main duties of the job

You will be joining an established multi-disciplinary clinical team. The SOAMHS and CIDS teams are integrated and work along New Ways of Working.  The SOAMHS team provides a specialist service for the assessment and management of mental health needs to patients over 70 who require older people's services as outlined in the Royal college of Psychiatrists document "Age discrimination in mental health services: making equality a reality". The CIDS team offers a service for all patients with a primary dementia

We are looking for a candidate with the drive, enthusiasm and vision to improve our team’s delivery of care, and contribute to our ongoing expansion and transformation of mental health and community health services.  A candidate who is not just good at looking after the interests of the patients our teams will treat today, but can also think ahead and gradually improve everything we do to improve outcomes for all of our future patients and carers. The willingness and ability to do the latter well which separates average, from exceptional, high-performing, clinicians and this is what we are seeking.
