Job overview
MH Rehabilitation Services within the Specialist Network are seeking a forward thinking Clinical Psychologist to apply for an exciting opportunity at Wesham Rehabilitation Centre. The successful candidate will be part of an established MDT that has the needs of our service users at its heart.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and has proven clinical skills to provide and support the delivery of high quality psychological care to achieve rehabilitation and recovery goals. Your key role will be to ensure high quality clinical standards are achieved consistently by providing inspirational and visible clinical input to improve outcomes for patients.
You will be part of the psychology team which currently includes a Clinical Psychologist (Band 8a) and a Consultant Psychologist who has a wider responsibility for the Care Group.
Main duties of the job
You must have excellent communication skills, and a good working knowledge and understanding of mental health rehabilitation and/or adult mental health and the needs of individuals in this group. You will promote and maintain high standards of care whilst supporting and assisting to implement local and national strategies and initiatives. You will need to possess excellent interpersonal skills, have leadership and staff development skills. A strong commitment to your ongoing professional education and development is essential.
The successful post holder will be expected be flexible where needed to meet the needs of patients and the service.

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology or equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and Neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of patients across a range of care settings.
Skills
Essential criteria
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
- Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to patients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
- Keyboard skills sufficient to enter data/write reports.
