Job overview

The West Yorkshire Staff Mental Health & Wellbeing Hub provides comprehensive mental health support to all individuals working or volunteering in health, social care, and voluntary community service organisations across West Yorkshire. Overall, the West Yorkshire Staff Mental Health &Wellbeing Hub aims to create a supportive environment for staff, addressing mental health & emotional distress, and promoting overall wellbeing through accessible, confidential, & comprehensive services to support cultural change to create compassionate cultures across the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership. 

 The service has a number of offers to support this endeavour and is excited to offer an opportunity to join the team in a newly developed role as training and engagement manager within our preventative measures (compassionate cultures/cultural change) workstream.

Main duties of the job

The service is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Training and Engagement Manager to spearhead our efforts in supporting the mental health & wellbeing of our staff. 

This Band 7 role is crucial in developing & delivering effective training programs and engagement strategies that foster a culture of mental health awareness and support. One of the key area’s you will be supporting is our Critical Incident Staff Support Pathway by way of engagement and training in the offer across the Health Care Partnership. 

The role is home based but will require frequent travel across the footprint of the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership to attend internal meetings and training and engagement opportunities to our partner organisations.

The role will entail a significant proportion of face-to-face work and engagement time with an anticipation of 2-3 days per week requiring travel across the across the West Yorkshire area.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with a range of stakeholders at all levels within the Integrated Care System, including VCSE, statutory organisations, WTE and NHSE to support the development of the workforce.
  • Communicate effectively with and influence a wide range of stakeholders within the WY Health and Care Partnership to ensure that the principles of equity of access are understood and best practice is adopted.
  • Develop positive relationships with staff and Organisational Development Managers across the stakeholder Organisations, to support coordination of the operational delivery of training and maximise opportunities for collaboration.
  • Develop and maintain relationships using effective and proactive communications mechanisms with stakeholders, in order to support the West Yorkshire Staff Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub in achieving its transformation aims and objectives through ensuring the workforce is skilled appropriately to deliver  West Yorkshire Staff Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub services focused on maximising personalised care.
  • Build effective relationships with subject matter experts supporting all programmes/learning interventions to ensure that the right people are included in the right learning interventions from all levels across the region.
  • Create a network of support with other colleagues across the ICS involved in learning and development, in order to signpost stakeholders and customers to the right training.
  • Explore opportunities to connect with other ICS
  • Represent the West Yorkshire Staff Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub at system, ICS and regional level in relation to training and development needs for the West Yorkshire Staff Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub.
  • Communicate to all stakeholders both in writing and verbally complex, sensitive and contentious information i.e. training needs analysis information, workforce development strategies / proposals.
  • Communicate clearly face to face with large groups of stakeholders, including presenting to the Looking After Our People Association Oversight Group of senior leaders, …. Programme Board.
  • Attend the regional Wellbeing meetings as the West Yorkshire Staff Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub lead representative.
