Locum Consultant in Palliative Medicine - 12 Month Fixed Term

About us:

Princess Alice Hospice is one of the top ten adult hospices in the UK, providing specialist palliative care and support to a community of more than a million people living in Surrey, south west London and Middlesex.

Here at Princess Alice, you have the opportunity to make a satisfying, rewarding difference to the lives of our patients, their families and friends, and be supported every step of the way. We’re small enough for you to see the impact your medical skills have, and big enough to support you with training, experience and opportunities.

About the role:

We are looking to fill a Consultant post who will be a key part of the Consultant team. You will primarily support our In-Patient Unit, looking after hospice patients with a Multi – Professional team approach, providing urgent and planned medical reviews for patients as needed. You will also provide regular support to the Wellbeing Centre, as well as cover for our Hospice at home. You will be available to support and provide cross-cover to consultant medical team colleagues.

Our Medical Team has a weekly rolling programme of continuous professional development and journal clubs to support your learning and development. You will also have the opportunity to contribute more widely to Hospice clinical services including teaching, audit, and research.

About You:

Having strong communication and people skills is fundamental as you will be required to work in partnership with the multi-professional team, ensuring every patient and their needs are always at the centre of what you do. You will draw on your expertise to carry out a holistic assessment of patients and work collaboratively with the other healthcare professionals to provide excellent care for our patients and their families.

You will need to share and be able to demonstrate our five key values of Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence.

Finally, you will be able to provide evidence of full registration, with a GMC licence to practice and ongoing appraisal / revalidation.

As well as our competitive salary package and the opportunity of joining an organisation where you will be able to make a difference to our patients and their families, we offer a range of great benefits, which include:

  • Annual leave in line with Consultants Terms and Conditions
  • educational and professional development opportunities (we have an on-site Education Team)
  • an annual development day - protected time for you and your learning
  • clinical supervision (regular and we ensure its protected time)
  • monthly group reflections via Schwartz Rounds sessions
  • free on-site parking
  • tranquil Hospice grounds
  • subsidised meals at our on-site restaurant
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • access to Blue Light Card discount card
  • access to our Group Pension Scheme (with the option to continue your NHS Pension Scheme)
  • in-house laundry of uniforms, plus excellent changing facilities (with showers, fresh towels, and hairdryers)
  • wellbeing - we provide a programme of activities, opportunities, and guidance to inspire and support our employees to live a healthy life, at home and at work.

Be the difference at moments that really matter.
