Education & training is delivered across all five geographical areas of NWAS, and we are currently recruiting to roles within the following areas:

  • Cheshire and Merseyside (Including Southport, Skelmersdale and Burscough)
  • Greater Manchester
  • Fylde/Morecambe Bay (including Kendal and Barrow)

As part of the Trust’s commitment to deliver high quality practice education North West Ambulance Service is looking to appoint Practice Education Practitioners to work within the Trust’s Education and Training team.  Successful applicants will be required to ensure the provision of high-quality practice-based learning and assessment and to ensure that learning opportunities are maximised across the Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity to engage with clinical staff who are new to the trust and shape the future culture of the service.

We are looking for self-motivated, energetic and accomplished qualified ambulance practitioners with evidence of learner engagement and a demonstrable ability to provide outstanding assessment practices to support learners through the practical requirements of the Associate Ambulance Practitioner apprenticeship.  Individuals must hold a recognised assessor qualification (CAVA or equivalent). Candidates should have proven experience in assessment activities and should be familiar with ambulance education practices.

The recruitment process will be comprised of several assessment processes that will evaluate your suitability for the post, behaviours and values, and ability to work as part of our education team.

The closing date for applications is 30/08/24. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to take part in an assessment centre w/c 16/09/24.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Qualifications and Education

  • Educated to postgraduate level plus specialist training / experience to Masters equivalent which may be developed in role
  • Hold education relevant to ambulance practitioner role
  • Hold a recognised post graduate teaching/learning qualification. (Must be willing to work towards a qualification of this level where not in place).
  • Hold a recognised assessment qualification (CAVA or equivalent).

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience working in an ambulance practitioner role, with developed knowledge of pre-hospital and emergency/urgent care practice
  • Proven experience in managing work based learning / learning in practice for both vocational and academic learning placements
  • Extensive/demonstrable experience in work based learning management across a range of programmes
  • Evidence of knowledge and practice in the self-assessment of OFSTED education inspection framework.
  • Experience of managing people
  • Experience of designing assessment plans and programmes
