Job overview
Barts Health NHS Trust are currently welcoming applications for a full time Clinical Fellow (ST3+) to join the Centre for Reproductive Medicine and Surgery, based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. This appointment will initially be for 5 months on a fixed term basis which can be extended to two years.
The Fertility service at Barts Health is one of the largest NHS services and has excellent clinical results. The Centre receives referrals for secondary and tertiary diagnosis and treatment, and offers a wide range of services, including all forms of male and female outpatient diagnostic assessment, assisted reproduction technologies including IUI, IVF, ICSI, sperm and ovum donation, surrogacy, a full range of sperm retrieval techniques, and male and female fertility preservation for acute and chronic conditions including oncological.
The Centre also offers specialised menopausal, gynae-endocrinology, andrology clinics, and general benign gynaecological and reproductive surgery.

Main duties of the job
This is one-year post with a possibility of extension for a second year depending on clinical and research assessment.
The post holder will be trained in all aspects of general fertility and assisted reproductive technology (ART). Activities will include outpatient assessment, ultrasound scanning, monitoring of ART treatment (ovulation induction, intrauterine insemination, IVF treatment, ICSI, ovum donation, surrogacy etc), transvaginal oocyte retrievals and tubal patency assessment; including hysterosalpingograms and Hycosys. They will also be exposed to sperm retrieval techniques and trans-abdominal oocyte retrieval as well as reproductive surgery.
The post holder will also have the opportunity to participate in the Fertility Preservation program, Menopause and Fertility-BRCA clinics.
The post holder will be encouraged to get involved in all aspects of Clinical Governance within the Fertility Department. The post holder will be encouraged to take an active part in each HFEA, CQC, ISO inspection and the preparation and implementation of the post-inspection action plans

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful candidate will join a team of 4 Clinical Fellows (all ST3+) and a senior team of 4 consultants and 2 Specialist grade doctors. They shall be allocated an educational supervisor to oversee their training in reproductive medicine.
The Barts CRM is active in basic and clinical research. The post holder will be encouraged to participate in these activities. Protected time will be allocated for research, depending on the holders’ participation and clinical workload.
All clinical fellows are encouraged to present their research projects regularly and attend meetings, national and international, with further opportunities to publish these in peer review journals.
The post holder may be asked to participate on the Registrar / Senior Registrar on call rota with out of hours commitments (evening and weekends) for obstetrics and gynaecology at the Royal London Hospital (currently 1:5 rota). The details will be discussed at the interview and a finalise decision taken before the successful candidate start the post.

- MBBS/MB ChB or equivalent MRCOG
Desirable criteria
- MD, MSc
Knowledge Clinical experience in Specialty and Sub Specialty

- 5 years Obstetrics & Gynaecology (approaching ST5 or above) with matching competency records
