We are looking for an enthusiastic Consultant Haematologist to join our team. This is a 10 PA Consultant Haematologist post based at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust (RSFT). It is a replacement post. As we are a large District general Hospital, as well as a cancer centre, the post will cover a wide range of Haematology including General and Haemato-oncology. The hospital has an Oncology ward with a dedicated junior doctor team and busy Haemato oncology clinics. Applicants with an interest in haemato-oncology are especially encouraged to apply.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

1.     To participate in the provision of clinical and laboratory haematology services.

2.     To maintain the highest clinical standards in the diagnosis and management of patients with haematological disorders.

3.     To participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning clinical governance and audit.

4.     To participate in continuing medical education.

5.     To teach and train junior medical staff, medical students, nursing staff and biomedical scientists, other clinical staff i.e., pharmacists

6.     To participate in clinical research trials. To undertake teaching duties as required and, in particular, to take an active part in the education programme of trainee medical staff and medical students.

7.     To contribute and support departmental meetings.

8.     To fully comply with requirements for annual appraisal and job planning and maintain an up to date mandatory training record.

9.     To undertake CPD in, order to maintain and develop personal professional standards

10.     To undertake occasional additional duties as required to cover absent colleagues and flexibility in rota arrangements

The Royal Surrey County Foundation Trust (RSFT) is a leading modern general hospital and specialist Cancer Centre based in Guildford. We were licensed as an NHS Foundation Trust on 1st December 2009 and our vision for the future is to continue to develop both as a modern general hospital and as a cancer centre. Our focus is to deliver the best possible care for our patients, with excellent treatment and outcomes and be the employer of choice. We aim to provide first class, high quality care for all of our patients in a friendly, inclusive, and professional setting.  Our services have received national recognition and praise. There is an active clinical trials team.

The Haematology team deliver level 2b care, including intensive chemotherapy for AML, salvage treatment for high grade lymphoma and intensive treatment for primary CNS lymphoma. We work closely with colleagues at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospital and share a level 2 in-patient service based at the RSFT. There is a 1:10 combined ward attending and out of hours on-call rota. Care is delivered by a team of committed and highly skilled staff including  6 haematologists, 3 clinical nurse specialists, 2 Haematology registrars and designated junior doctors at the RSFT and 4 further consultant colleagues from Ashford and St Peters Hospital.

Qualifications

  • Full registration and a license to practice with the GMC
  • Full and specialist registration (for Haematology or relevant specialty) and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC) or eligible for (or eligible for registration within six months of interview
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Higher medical qualification
  • Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
  • FRCPath or show evidence of equivalent qualification

Experience
