Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

Are you an experienced B6 or 7 respiratory Physiotherapist looking for a new challenge and an opportunity to develop your leadership, research, and clinical skills as a highly specialist respiratory Physiotherapist? If so, this part-time, 12-month opportunity may interest you.

We are looking for a motivated, dynamic, and flexible Physiotherapist to join our highly specialist adult primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) team at University Hospital Southampton (UHS).  You will be working with the current B7 physiotherapist and clinical nurse specialists to deliver person-centred care to 125 adults with PCD living across the southwest of England.

You will work closely with the PCD diagnostic service at UHS to ensure that adult patients have access to PCD diagnostics in a timely manner and receive physiotherapy care as soon as a PCD diagnosis is confirmed.

Adult PCD clinics are mainly held at UHS or the Royal South Hants Hospital, Southampton but you will also attend regional clinics in the southwest of England including Exeter, Bristol, Oxford, Penzance, Gloucester, Plymouth, and Windsor every 2 – 4 months.

Gweithio i'n sefydliad

As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to.

All non-clinical roles may involve a mixture of on site and remote working, Specific details and flexible working options can be discussed as part of the interview process. UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.

Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London. The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 20% lower than London and 14 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.

Our team works closely with the three adult, highly specialist, PCD centres in Leeds, Leicester/Birmingham, and the Brompton (London) and you will have the opportunity to work with the other PCD Physiotherapists in England on national service development, audit, and research and to get peer support from them, as well as receiving peer support from the Therapy and PCD teams in Southampton.

The South of England adult PCD management service is commissioned to provide outpatient care for all adults with PCD who attend the service.  As this is a small team you will need to work collaboratively with the PCD clinical team to ensure adequate service provision during the working week.  Patient numbers are predicted to grow year-on-year and you will work closely with the current B7 adult PCD specialist physiotherapist to meet the changing needs of the patients.  You will be expected to have a comprehensive knowledge of the management of patients with chronic suppurative lung disease, and to be able to provide holistic care for patients to meet their clinical and psychosocial needs.  You will often be the only adult PCD physiotherapist in the hospital and you will be required to provide expertise and knowledge to the wider therapy team, including the adult cystic fibrosis physiotherapists.

Please note, this post will require travel to external clinics.  Therefore, you will need to be able to work flexibly and may need to stay overnight in a local hotel to attend regional clinics as required.  All necessary travel expenses will be met by the adult PCD service.
