Physiotherapist Band 5 Fixed Term Role For 24 Months.  

An excellent opportunity for either a newly qualified Physiotherapist or those with post qualification experience looking to make a positive step in their career, to join our Physiotherapy service and the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT). We have a vacancy at our Wokingham base. Within this post you will contribute to the provision of a high-quality Physiotherapy service, responsive to need, for adults with a wide range of conditions across West of Berkshire.   

You will be responsible for the assessment, treatment and caseload management for patients, undertaking all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner, working without direct supervision as required. 

This is a fixed term post for 24 months.

  • Windsor/Ascott Ward, Wokingham Hospital, 41 Barkham Road, Wokingham, Berks, RG41 2RE

Wokingham is a town in a great location in the Thames Valley just 30 miles west of London with good transport links. The town centre is a short walk from the hospital with a good selection of shops and restaurants. It has easy access to the M4, M40 and M25 and a train and coach stations. Wokingham is also situated close to Reading which also has a large selection of shops and restaurants as well theatres and higher education facilities.  

Main duties of the job

  • Clinically you will be working with rehabilitation, medical, palliative, and neurological patients.  

  • Provide a high standard of physiotherapy for adults living within West of Berkshire 

  • Accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care, ensuring a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management 

  • Responsibility for a designated caseload of patients, and to organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical and management priorities and use of time 

  • Undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations/multi pathologies; use clinical reasoning and analytical skills and manual assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of their condition  

  • Formulate and deliver an individual physiotherapy management and treatment programme based on a sound knowledge of evidence-based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills, treatment skills e.g. manual physiotherapy techniques, patient education, exercise classes and other alternative options. 

  • Evaluate patient progress, continually re-assess and alter treatment programmes in order to progress treatments effectively 

  • For those who wish to develop their management skills there is the opportunity to supervise junior staff and students. 

  • You will help to develop this exciting service to meet the changing needs of our population.

Education/Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registered
  • Under-graduate training covering core rotations

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Under- graduate experience of working as part of a physiotherapy team and multidisciplinary team.
Desirable criteria
  • Undergraduate / post graduate experience in NHS

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of Physiotherapy in the relevant areas
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate
  • Able to work effectively in a team / Good understanding of team working
  • Good written and oral communication / Competent IT skills

Additional Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Ability to drive and have access to a vehicle to use for work purposes.
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to participate in a 6 day rota including unsocial hours.
