Band 7 Support, Occupational Therapist

Full time, 12 month secondment/fixed term contract

This post offers an exciting opportunity research, create, develop, and deliver a new occupational therapy service within the Lancashire Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathway as part of the Intensive Intervention and Risk Management Service (IIRMS). The service is jointly commissioned by NHS England and His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), and is delivered via a joint service model that includes health and HMPPS partners in Lancashire. The service will be complemented by further partnership work with third sector organisations in the locality.

The IIRMS service in Lancashire is a community-based intervention and risk management service that will complement, enhance and work within the existing OPD provision in the area. IIRMS will operate as part of a tiered approach to supporting HMPPS in their management of people who present with high risk needs and screen on to the OPD pathway. Those suitable for the service will present with primary needs associated with relational/interpersonal difficulties. They will have genuine resettlement/transition needs, they may be institutionalised and/or may have been absent from their communities/networks for a significant period of time. Alongside screening on to the OPD pathway, they may have co-morbid or historical mental health difficulties, substance misuse and/or associated vulnerabilities. The primary focus of IIRMS is to support people on probation with transition and integration back into local communities.

The IIRMS is currently in development therefore we are seeking an OT experienced in mental health at band 6 or 7 with strong interpersonal skills, an ability to manage own workload and, a person centred, innovative approach to delivering care. A strong clinical knowledge of the theory and delivery of OT measuring outcomes and working in a range of environments is also essential.
