Job overview

Are you skilled in phlebotomy and IV cannulation and passionate about patient care? We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our team on Valentine Ellis Ward. We are offering a part time position which is Monday to Wednesday, 0800-1600.

Valentine Ellis Ward is a very fast-paced 23-bedded acute Trauma, Orthopaedic and Plastics Ward. We work closely with our Major Trauma Centre, so we also facilitate patient flow for stepdown of Major Trauma, spinal trauma and non-trauma neuro patients. You will also be required to cover Albert ward which is our stepdown surgical ward and carry out phlebotomy service on their ward.

As a band 3 Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients in a safe and efficient manner. Your role involves preparing patients for blood collection, IV cannulation, ensuring correct labelling and handling of samples, and maintaining accurate records. You will work closely with members of the team such as nurses and doctors to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic testing is carried out, making a significant impact on patient care and outcomes.

  • To provide high-quality phlebotomy services including IV cannulation, ensuring accurate and efficient collection, labelling and handling of blood samples
  • This role is essential for supporting diagnostic processes and patient care by ensuring that blood samples are collected in a safe, professional and compassionate manner
