Main duties of the job

We are excited to invite applications for the role of Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join our dynamic and expanding Urology team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking department dedicated to innovation and excellence in patient care. As an ACP in our Urology team, you will play a pivotal role in optimising patient outcomes, reducing hospital stays, preventing readmissions and supporting the most complex patients throughout their inpatient stay. As part of your development plan, you will be working in the Urology Direct clinic; our pioneering, fully ACP led, same day emergency care service.

We currently work 1 in 4 Saturdays but as the service expands, full weekend cover would be expected. Core working hours are between 0730-1830 with the occasional late finish of 2000.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
As an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, you are expected to work in conjunction with the 4 pillars of advanced Practice (Health Education England Multi Professional Framework 2017)
Demonstrate expert clinical practice
Provide leadership and management in order to improve and transform services.
Engage and champion research through the application of existing research and contributing to new research within the chosen speciality.
Provide education and development of others, and actively seek this for yourself.
Your clinical role will include working alongside the medical & ACP team. You will be delivering an advanced level of practice within a specialist field. Your daily job plan includes supporting the medical ward rounds, to independently assess, investigate, diagnose, plan, implement, manage, and evaluate the clinical care for your patients.
Acting as a role model to supporting the junior medical team with practical clinical tasks such as completing bloods, cannulas, prescribing, ordering radiology investigations, discharge HMRs, referrals and patient education.
Your role will also be working within the MDT, supporting the patients Enhanced Recovery Pathway and working in combination with the ACP to develop the role to cover both inpatient and outpatient services ensuring patients receive the highest quality standard of care.
You will be required to provide education and clinical supervision to tACPs, nursing and medical surgical teams. Initiating and leading research and service developments to improve patient care.
You will be required to support the ACP/ tACP team which on occasion may include working within other surgical specialities and covering for a later day shift and at the weekends.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- Registered Healthcare Professional on relevant part of NMC / HCPC register
- MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice –full master (180 credits) Or equivalency pathway –the portfolio route –recognition by HEE centre of Advanced practice, via the supported portfolio route. Including NMP where professional registration permits. Or have formally credentialed on a nationally recognised specialty specific Advanced Clinical Practice programme for example FICM or RCEM EM ACP
- Speciality specific post registration qualification or training
- Provide evidence of Leading learning in practice
- Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote learning in practice providing an excellent learning environment for all
- Provide evidence of Supporting /managing and supervision a range of learnings in practice
- Leadership and Management qualification
- Able to develop and implement policy, guidelines and projects from initiation to completion
- Completion of IR(ME)R Training
- Extensive post registration experience in a relevant speciality
- Experience of Service Development

- Act in the role of Practice Assessor or supporting the progression of learners / supporting challenges as needed
