Courier Coordinator

Band 3

We are looking for friendly, professional and enthusiastic band 3 courier coordinator to join our well-established teams across SACT, Outpatients and Pharmacy.

The post holder will act as the first point of contact for staff across multiple teams, to plan and coordinate deliveries with couriers across trust sites in Greater Manchester and Cheshire. Deliveries will be for patients and staff to ensure effective service delivery.

The post holder will also work closely with the Bloods Closer to Home team, acting as a point of escalation where required to support efficient running of the phlebotomy services across Greater Manchester and Cheshire

You will need to have a basic knowledge and experience of using IT systems as you will be regularly referring to patient systems and communicating using Microsoft programmes, however full training on our patient systems will be given.

The post holder will require good communication skills and be able to communicate with all members of the multidisciplinary teams across multiple services within The Christie as well as external providers.

The post holder will be required to work closely with other administrative and clinical staff, but also work alone and use their initiative to resolve/process daily queries.

The post holder will be expected to work between the hours of 8am to 4pm throughout the week. There may be an expectation to work some bank holidays where required.

 Provide assistance to others when problems delays occur. Prioritising safe and effective service delivery and ensuring teams and patients have the resources they need

 Use own initiative to liaise with clinical staff regarding queries and the delivery of drugs, clinic bags etc

 Be the first point of contact for administration decisions and requested service deliveries and a point of escalation for the Bloods Closer to Home admin team

 Support Outpatient Phlebotomy and SACT admin

 Use of office equipment including PCs and phones

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support with requests for and booking of couriers to and from Christie services across Greater Manchester and Cheshire
  • Follow all relevant policy and legislation in SACT, Outpatient Services and Pharmacy services
  • Work collaboratively with trust colleagues to ensure policies are adhered to
  • Plan and organise workloads
  • Where required, maintain up-to-date databases/records of requests made and journeys taken 
  • Understand the fragility and value of medication and medical devices e.g., scopes and conveys this to drivers so as to ensure the safe transportation of such equipment
  • Work with the couriers to proactively review planned journeys to optimise routes
  • Demonstrate good geographical knowledge for best cost efficiency
  • Prioritise workload to meet service needs 
  • Be the first point of contact for administration decisions and requested service deliveries and a point of escalation for the Bloods Closer to Home admin team
  • Support Outpatient Phlebotomy and SACT admin where required
  • Work with the SACT and Outpatient housekeepers where required to ensure consumable stock levels are maintained at all outreach sites
  • Provide assistance to others when problems or delays occur. Prioritising safe and effective service delivery and ensuring teams and patients have the resources they need
  • Communicate sensitive information in a diplomatic manner with departments both internally and externally
  • Assess situations and escalate to management as appropriate 
  • Use own initiative to liaise with clinical staff regarding queries and the delivery of drugs, clinic bags etc 
  • Understand and apply medical terminology hence ensuring the correct vehicle is utilised for delivery of items
  • Cooperate with colleagues to achieve the most effective operation for daily workloads
  • Promote and deliver a high standard of practice to achieve and maintain individual and team targets
  • Reporting of departmental activity including any breaches or escalations
  • Use of office equipment including PCs and phones
