An existing opportunity exists for a suitably qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapists, who are passionate about providing meaningful and effective therapeutic experiences to address common mental health problems, to join the Fylde and Wyre Talking Therapies Team. 

Fylde and Wyre Talking Therapy Team consists of dedicated Cognitive Behavioural Therapists, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs), Counsellors and Dual trained Clinicians who also have expertise in EMDR, who offer a range of support to help people make positive changes to reduce stress and anxiety and improve their wellbeing.  Career development includes CPD in person and remote education, shadowing, joint working with different specialist areas e.g. Physical Health, LD, Perinatal. Staff enjoy working collaboratively to provide/receiving support to all different members of the team/MDT teams providing a holistic approach to their own practice and that of others.

Applicants who have not completed their training as a CBT therapist will not be considered. Applicants need to be BACP fully accredited.

Talking Therapies CBT Therapists offer accessible screening to ensure appropriate referrals to the service, assessment and treatment for mild to moderate mental health problems, giving service users a greater degree of choice and flexibility by providing an extensive menu of therapies including psycho-education courses, 1:1 therapy, and group and computerised CBT program

To provide high quality CBT to adults with common mental health problems including those with a degree of complexity.

To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of team policies and procedure.

To provide clinical supervision and mentoring to cognitive behavioral therapists and trainees.

To deliver a CBT service in accordance with NICE guidelines, meeting key performance indicators and agreed activity levels.

To work to the agreed model and number of clinical contacts per week as set by the service Job Description Our vision: high quality care, in the right place, at the right time, every time.

To provide advice and consultation on clients’ care, to non-CBT colleagues and to non-professional carers.

To utilise research skills for audit policy and service development and research within the areas served by the team.

To deliver and support the delivery of CBT within agreed activity levels and an agreed model.

To work with the Team Leader and Clinical Leads to provide a co-production role in managing waiting times, prevalence and recovery

To promote wellbeing and social inclusion.

To take lead role / clinical specialty in a designated areas of work i.e. LTC, Older adults, veterans, etc.

To provide clinical leadership at team/locality level, taking a lead role in service development, including engaging and working with other agencies

Education/qualifications

  • Formally recognised Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Post Graduate (Master’s Level) diploma
  • Provisional CBT Accreditation with BABCP AND Professional qualification in health or social care, e.g. RMN or Social Worker OR KSA equivalence

Knowledge

  • Highly developed specialist knowledge of the theory and practice of cognitive behaviour therapy.
  • Extensive theoretical and clinical knowledge of the theory and practice of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc.). and disorder specific models
  • Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
  • Knowledge of the NHS Talking Therapies (formerly IAPT) model and a willingness to develop the service clinically.

Experience

  • A broad range of experience of working with a wide variety of clients that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
  • Significant experience of delivering specialist Cognitive Behaviour Therapy assessment and treatment of clients in Adult Mental Health, and managing own clinical caseload of therapy clients safely and effectively
  • Experience of managing risk and safeguarding concerns according to relevant policies Experience of Promoting wellbeing and social inclusion
