Main duties of the job
Blood Transfusion at UHS is looking for a detail-oriented and customer-focused person with strong administrative and IT skills to support our team of Nurse and Biomedical Scientist Transfusion Practitioners.
You will also work closely with the wider Blood Transfusion Laboratory team and others within the
Pathology department to assist with the effective running of the transfusion service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The main duties of the job include the collection and manipulation of data to provide reports used to monitor blood transfusion practice which will also include visiting ward areas and liaising with clinical staff to solve relevant problems. Some additional laboratory-related tasks may also be required at times such as the transport of blood and handling of blood samples.

- Qualifications, knowledge and experience
- NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in a hospital transfusion service
- Foundation degree or equivalent experience in a hospital transfusion service.
- IT competency (Microsoft, Outlook, hospital IT systems)
Desirable criteria
- Experience in a large acute hospital
- Experience in the field of Blood Transfusion including managing EBMS
