Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust are seeking an enthusiastic, committed individual to join the Database Administration Team to provide professional expertise ensuring Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trusts Microsoft SQL estate is reliable, resilient and secure. 

Main duties of the job

The overall aim of the role:

-    Develop, manage and maintain LSCFT complex Microsoft SQL environments.
-    Analyse and optimise the various LCFT Microsoft SQL 2016, 2019 and 2022 environments.
-    Provide expert technical guidance and advice to LSCFT staff on SQL technologies and other trust database software.
-    Deputise for the trust Senior SQL Database Administrator.
-    Develop and maintain trust Microsoft SQL high availability estate including failover clustering, Always on Availability Groups and Replication.
-    Develop and maintain technical documentation for the LSCFT Microsoft SQL Server estate.
-    Liaise with 3rd party suppliers and provide support and expertise for installing and maintaining these systems.
-    When required act as SQL technical lead on LSCFT projects.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Degree Level or equivalent experience of working in a similar role gaining the specialist knowledge and skills listed below.
  • Relevant IT qualification e.g. Microsoft Certification, ITIL Foundation or working towards Microsoft Certification.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Thorough specialist working knowledge of Microsoft SQL server 2016, 2019 and 2022.
  • Knowledge of using, installing and supporting Microsoft Operating Systems
  • Extensive knowledge of T-SQL for query writing and optimisation using Microsoft SQL Server 2016, 2019 and 2022

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience of configuration of Microsoft SQL 2016, 2019 and 2022.
  • Experience of working in a complex IT networked environment
  • Worked in an ITIL driven environment.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Well organised, methodical in your approach to problem solving.
  • Customer focused and excellent communication skills.
  • Able to prioritise your workload, ensuring that targets and critical deadlines are always met.
