We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic HCPC registered Clinical Scientist to join our team at Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services. BSPS is a large network of NHS laboratories serving 7 NHS hospital sites: Ashford & St Peter’s, Frimley Park, Royal Berkshire, Royal Surrey, Heatherwood and Wexham Park and East Surrey Hospital.

This is an exciting post that, as well as carrying out routine biochemistry duties will also provide biochemistry support to the development of new assays and support the Network with Quality-related activities. This provides a really exciting opportunity to get experience of a variety of activities and work with a number of fantastic teams within pathology and across the hospital.

It also has a cardiovascular biomarkers lab in which this position would play an integral role. The Department works closely with the University of Surrey, which brings together a variety of analytical and clinical groups within the University and NHS. BSPS also hosts the Bowel Cancer Screening hub for the South of England which as well as providing the bowel cancer screening service for a population of over 1.5 million people across the South of England, has an internationally renowned research team that carry out research in to early diagnosis of bowel cancer.

The post holder will be employed by the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford but there will be a requirement to perform duties including duty biochemist at the other BSPS sites on a regular basis, with the expectation of attending East Surrey Hospital at least 2 days a week.  The post holder will contribute to the clinical support activities of the department by participating in the duty biochemist rota and will participate in R&D and clinical audit.
