The Fountain Centre is looking to recruit a digital marketing assistant to work at the Fountain Centre, Royal Surrey Cancer Centre, Guildford.
The Fountain Centre is an independent charity supporting local people affected by a diagnosis of cancer. As part of our ambitious income generation and communication strategy, we are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled person with experience and knowledge of creating exciting and engaging media content, maintaining websites and profile raising. The role will support the team to engage with local supporters, communities and businesses to ensure we meet our annual income targets.
Main duties of the job
The Digital Marketing Assistant will be accountable to the Head of Income Generation and Marketing, and work alongside and be supported by the community engagement and administrator.
There will be some out of hour’s work to support Fountain Centre events and to monitor supporter’s engagement. The post holder is required to be a confident communicator and be able to work flexibly across the working week to meet the needs of the service. Excellent IT skills are required with a good understanding of working for a charity or NHS.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Fountain Centre is an independent cancer charity situated within the Royal Surrey Cancer Centre (RSCC). It provides a caring and supportive environment for people affected by cancer. The charity needs to raise in excess of £500k per year; this is achieved in a number of ways including donations, grants, external and internal events. This post is a key position within the Fountain Centre income generation team. Its role it to help the Fountain Centre implement audience focused marketing and fundraising campaigns that deliver long-term sustainable income, as well as mutually beneficial relationships with their supporters. You will create marketing campaigns to maximise lifetime value and loyalty by delivering these projects across multiple channels, both online and offline.

Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject and/ or substantial experience working in a press office or communications department
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
- Experience of working with charities/ third sector organisations or NHS
- A good understanding the impact of cancer on a person
- Experience of working within a marketing, PR, publications or other communication context.
- Knowledge of design, photography and print production
- Good working knowledge of different media platforms
- Good working knowledge and application of design software
