Job overview

Responsible for being the principal lead for assigned projects within EDTS, our in-house design team at Berkshire Healthcare, and projects for external clients ensuring that they are delivered to the highest standard and within project timescales and budgets. Apply PRINCE2 and other project management methodology to all projects undertaken ensuring that all documentation is readily available to Project Board members. 

Responsible for the leadership, support, and management of the EDTS Projects team including staff development, recruitment and retention, training, discipline, and work assessments / appraisals.   

To represent the EDTS team as a whole during project meetings, while accepting the responsibilities / deliverables of each key stage within the project lifespan. To also represent the needs of the organisation when managing third party contractors and suppliers. To provide accurate budget forecasts and frequent budget updates to the Directorate concerned.  

To provide technical and operational guidance to project board members (including Senior and Executive Staff) when required 

This is an important liaison role with clinicians and service managers across the Trust to ensure requirements are fully understood so that projects deliver the right physical solution for that service.

  • Work flexibly in response to project need across multiple sites. 

  • Support and lead colleagues in the delivery of projects. 

  • Diverse property portfolio, nature of projects and client base.

  1. Project management experience in healthcare and/or construction industry. 

  1. Ability to draw out briefs from multidisciplinary stakeholders with competing and conflicting priorities.

Person specification

Education/Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent or specialist relevant experience
  • Post graduate management qualification or significant management experience
  • Current post graduate formal Project Management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2) or current proven knowledge of project management principles
Desirable criteria
  • MSP Practitioner qualified or equivalent Programme Management qualification

Continuous Professional Development

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of continuous personal and professional development

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience of managing multiple Construction and Corporate Projects at various levels.
